As everyone knows by now, James Comey was fired from his job just a couple of days ago. He was totally blindsided as he found out while giving a speech in front of FBI agents in LA.
He found out by seeing the news on televisions and laughed thinking it was just a prank.
He was then rushed into a private room and broken the news that it was indeed very real.
Comey left returning to his home in Virginia and issued a statement saying that he wasn’t going to say anything about it and that he was just going to move on and hopes that everyone else will too.
The Democrats are not happy that he was fired so abruptly, even though many, including Chuck Schumer had said publically that he should be fired.
Thrown for a loop over Comey’s firing, including Republicans, many are calling for an independent investigation into Russia as suspicions run wild as to the timing of the firing.
Comey, now an unemployed US citizen, is being suggested for a new job.
Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), who is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and his been conducting his own investigation on Russia and any involvement with the Trump administration, has Comey in mind for the job of directing the investigation.
From Yahoo News, Angus made an appearance on CNN and was quoted as saying the following:
“Now, I had a fun idea in the middle of the night,” King said on CNN. “I think our committee, the Intelligence Committee, should hire James Comey to direct our investigation. Already got his clearances, knows the subject, man of integrity. I’m going to float that today and see what kind of reaction I get.”
He was then asked if Comey would be allowed to accept the position, and replied, ““I don’t know why not,” he said. “He’s a free man as of today. Doesn’t have a job.”
The White House claimed Trump fired Comey because he was dissatisfied at the FBI director’s handling of former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s private emails. Comey is the third person Trump has suddenly fired who was reportedly investigating him, after former acting attorney general Sally Yates and U.S. attorney Preet Bharara.”
My opinion is that Comey needs to stay away from being part of any kind of investigation. He made such a mess of the FBI that he doesn’t need to be given the opportunity to mess up anything else.
