The Obama era drastically eroded the United States’ standing in the world. The charlatan went on apology tours all across the globe, kowtowing to world leaders and showing nothing but weakness.
Predictably, Obama’s weakness was taken advantage of by adversaries and allies alike. His foreign policy was nothing short of disaster, and has left many of our relationships in tatters.
The most damaged of all is our relationship with Russia. Trump has vowed to rekindle the friendship, but it appears the Kremlin is still not ready to mend fences, as their latest show of aggression would indicate.
As reported at Allen B. West, the Kremlin seems to be testing Trump’s resolve, as Putin has sent nuclear capable bombers to scan the American coast.
Two Russian Bear bombers–escorted for the first time by a pair of Su-35 “Flanker” fighter jets–entered Alaska’s Air Defense Zone, US officials told Fox News.
The Russian formation was intercepted by a pair of US Air Force F-22 stealth fighter jets that were already flying on patrol about 50 miles southwest of Chariot, Alaska.
This flyby is unprecedented, as it’s the first time the Air Force has seen advanced Russian Su-35 fighter jets escort Russian bombers near Alaska.
However, the Russian fighter jets weren’t armed and they never violated US airspace.
This isn’t the first time this year the Russians have come close to Alaska. Late last month, Russian bombers flew near Alaska over four consecutive days.
This incident comes on the heels of Trump’s third phone call with Vladimir Putin, one that was described as a “very good one” and “constructive,” and made no mention of Russia’s recent provocations.
In April, Trump pointed out that US relations with Russia were at an “all-time low” and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson echoed that sentiment saying they certainly are at a “low point.”
While these little stunts are annoying, they’re just probes meant to test the president. If they reach a serious level, Trump has already shown he’s more than willingly to appropriately respond, and Putin knows that.
But he’s also open to working together, something Obama couldn’t bring himself to do for some reason.
The Left has tried to rekindle Cold War hatred for Russia, but the reality is, we need to work with each other if some the world’s most pressing issues are to be resolved.
We don’t have to agree with them on everything or even like them, but the pragmatic approach is the most prudent way to deal the Kremlin.
